THE TRAVELER SUN LAMP Sunlamp is manufactured by Cooper Hewitt Electric Company Inside the box lid it says, “The Sunlamp contained herein is manufactured under one or more of the following U.S. Patents: 2,171,580 2,189,508 2,227,876 and others pending. Unique Design.  Small gold metal case opens up to reveal the bulb.  The inside of the case has a mirrored finish.  The cord is detachable for easy storage.  Comes in original box and also has a cloth bag for travel.  Case measures (when closed) 5-1/2 inches x 3-1/2 inches.  It is 2 inches tall at its tallest point. (My original text:  The bulb does not work….) - UPDATE  6/20/08:  THE BULB DOES WORK!!!  AT THE URGING OF A FELLOW EBAYER - I FINALLY TESTED IT AND IT COMES ON AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE.  IT FLICKERS, DIES THEN COMES ON STRONG.  I COULD FEEL THE HEAT COMING OUT OF THE BULB TOO.... Still, I am still listing this as a unique piece of equipment as it is so old and do not guaranty how long it will work - though it is still apparently going strong after all these years.  This should be purchased for its design and as a vintage collectible only and not as a tanning device.  I feel that tanning and sun lamps are not safe for the skin, and because this is a very old device, I cannot and will not guarantee its safety or efficiency. The gold case is in mint condition – I doubt this was really ever used.  The box is soiled and the corners are splitting.  The gray cloth bag is in good condition but seems to be slightly faded or discolored. The cord is intact.  The end that attaches to the unit is a brown plastic and may be bakelite.  (I can never tell). Including the box, the unit weighs 1 lb. 2 oz. I got this from a 90-year old woman who had a house and garage filled with objects that dated back to the late 50’s/early 60’s. THIS IS A STRANGE AND UNIQUE UNIT THAT WILL PLEASE A COLLECTOR OF ODD EQUIPMENT. Buyer pays $8.50 via Parcel Post for shipping within the USA.  Actual charges plus $2.00 for packaging and handling apply to shipments outside of the continental USA.  Insurance is additional.  I have very good luck with shipping, but for those rare cases, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS IF NOT INSURED.  I accept payment by Paypal.  I also accept payment by money order and personal check.  However, personal checks must clear before item is shipped. For shipments outside of the USA, I accept payment by Paypal and Money Order - All payments in American Dollars only.
