This is for a Sweater Stone. What a marvelous idea. This thing works great. It is a natural pumice which has the unique ability to remove pilling from knits with each sharp edge of a broken cell. It actually cuts the filament that holds the pill to the garment while the cell breaks off, removing pilling and restoring the nap on fabrics.Pilling commonly occurs on a fabric when fibers taht are worked loose by rubbing, form little balls. The pills don't fall off because they are held to the fabric by the fibers that still hold firm. Loosely woven and knitted synthetics blends are the typical candidates for pilling. Usually, it's the stronger symthetic fibers that hold the pill to the surface. Pilling can happen to clothes, blankets, and upholstery fabrics. However, sweaters seem especially vulnerable. These stones work great. I am attaching pictures of a black sweater with before and after shots. The shiny looking items are pills. This stone took them completely off and this sweater is like new again. I only did part of the sweater to show you the difference. I was amazed. Knitting machine owners will love these as well as the hand knitters and crochet crafters.
Testimonial from a customer:
I have "gone stupid" with the sweater stone ... gave it a good work-out ... wow what a fantastic invention!!!
I have several jumpers that had pills over them ... from normal wear over time and now they are "perfect" again. Then I tested it on a fleece jacket of Graeme's that had been washed with a bath towel [oppps] ... and guess what ... no more bath towel on jacket. I am totally stoked!!!!
