You should always agree the use of the therapy comb with your dermatologist. He decides if in your case a treatment is useful or not. Mainly the therapy comb is used for treatment of Psoriasis of the scalp. But also in Seborrhoic Eczema and other stubborn dandruffs (Pityriasis simplex) the therapy comb may be used successful. After removing the comb the device may be used as therapy pencil. This is mainly a possibility for treatment of skin areas that are not sufficient irradiated during normal whole body phototherapy. Such skin areas are e.g. armpit, genital area or anus. You have to note that the device must not be used without moving because otherwise skin irritations may occur. It is practical to move the device in this kind of treatment too. The therapy device is partly useful for treatment of psoriasis around the fingernails. Mainly the environment of the nail can be positively influenced but not the fingernail itself. For treatment of the fingernail diseases the therapy pencil may be used for local photo chemotherapy (PUVA) too. This treatment must always be done in a dermatologist´s practise. For use in PUVA treatment a special manual exists but it is only passed on to dermatologists. About any other application only a dermatologist may decide. Note: In narrowband-UVB-therapy in every treatment the treatment should be extended as long as just still no sunburn (erythema) is caused. Before treating Psoriasis remove as much flaking skin as possible because the radiation hardly penetrates the flaking skin.
