Massage and Treatment of Diseases.
CHAPTER 23. EYE ACUPUNCTURE THERAPY
Eye Acupuncture, a
new modality of acupuncture therapy, was created by Prof. Peng Jingshan,
Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The therapy is based on
the ancient medical concept of "diagnosing diseases by inspecting the
eyes" by Hua Tuo in the Han Dynasty. Featured by puncturing the special
thirteen points on eight parts around the eyes, Eye Acupuncture Therapy is
considered painless, high in effective
rate and convenient for operation. Its theoretical basis are the doctrine of
Eight Diagrams of Yin-Yang in Yijing and TCM doctrines of the viscera -
meridian and the eight regions of the white of the eye in the five orbiculi.
Its diagnostics is to inspect the bulbar conjunctiva. This part systematically
discusses the Principle of the Eye Acupuncture Therapy, Diagnosing Diseases by
Inspecting the Eye, Clinical
Application of the Eye Acupuncture Therapy.
CHAPTER 24. THE METHOD OF THREE NEEDLES PUNCTURING INTO TEMPORAL
AREA & THE METHOD OF NEEDLING THE
DISEASED AREA IN A CIRCULAR FASHION
The temporal three needles method is one of the many three-needle puncture
methods. And it is mainly used to treat sequel of wind-stroke. This part
introduces in detail the definition,
locating method, the angle of
needle insertion, he therapeutic
effects, the course of treatment &
clinical application of the temporal-three-needle method. The Method of
Puncture Around the Diseased Area is a method using multiple needles to
puncture around the diseased area. This part emphasized on the around-diseased
area puncture with the help of CT scanning,
CT localization, therapeutic method,
care and attention. These two methods were developed by Prof. Jing Rui,
Director of the Acupuncture Dept. of Guangzhou University of TCM, based on his
clinical expertise of several decades and his long term research and synthesis
of his experiences.
CHAPTER 25. APOPLEXY WITH XINGNAO KAIQIAO ACUPUNCTURE METHOD
This part explains
the pathogenesis of apoplexy, the most effective points and the best
acupuncture method for treatment of the disease - Xingnao Kaiqiao Method which
was developed by Prof. Shi Xuemin of Tianjin College of TCM. The therapy is
remarkably effective with little side effect. The curative rate is 57.8%, effective
rate 98%. This part also introduces the method of selecting points needle
insertion, applications, acupuncture mechanism of Xingnao Kaiqiao method.
CHAPTER 26. MOXIBUSTED ACUPUNCTURE & MOXIBUSTION THROUGH
HERB MEDICINAL CAKE
Warm Acupuncture
Moxibustion, also called Warm Needling, has the comprehensive treatment effects
of both acupuncture & moxibustion. It is quite effective in the treatment
of such diseases as deficient syndrome of Yang-Qi and excess of Yin-cold.
Moxibustion through herb medical cake is also the commonly used therapy in
Zhenjiui clinical practice. In this part, Prof. Gao Zhenwu of Zhejiang
University of TCM introduced the results of the moxibusted acupuncture in lab
tests and clinical applications, the cautions; and the preparation of medical
cake, moxa cone, process of applying
moxibustion, and case study on some commonly occurred diseases.
CHAPTER 27.
POINT APPLICATION THERAPY External application therapy is a treatment that applies to
herbs topically in the body surface area or an acupuncture point. It is often
seen in the treatment of chronic, empty-cold type illness. Its functions are
warming the spleen & kidney, invigorating blood to dispel blood stasis,
dissipating nodules and reducing swelling, and strengthening the body to
prevent diseases, and etc. It's easy and safe. This part introduces the
preparation of the medicine, clinical applications of asthma, and allergic
Rhinitis, treatment principles,
selection of points, and cautions.
CHAPTER 28. SHOULDER BI-SYNDROME & BULBAR PARALYSIS
Shoulder Bi-Syndrome, also called Loujianfeng, mainly manifests as shoulder
pain and limited movements in the shoulder area. It is divided into the
following eight types: Hand-Taiyin,
Hand -Yangming, Hand-Shaoyang, Hand-Taiyang, Hand-Shaoyin, mixed type of Hand-Taiyin & Hand-Yangming,
mixed type of Hand-Yangming, Hand-Shaoyang and Hand-Taiyang, and mixed type of
the Hand-Taiyin & Three Yang Meridians of the Hand. Bulbar Paralysis is
mainly manifested as difficulty in swallowing, horse voice and gastric reflex.
Acupuncture is very effective for bulbar paralysis. This part introduces the
selection of points and manipulation in a clinical case.
CHAPTER 29. RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

REINFORCING AND REDUCING METHODS OF ACUPUNCTURE
In this part, Prof.
Yang Chang-Shen of Nanjing Traditional Chinese Medicine University, expounding
numerous simple methods from the classical school as the result of many years
of study and analysis through scientific research, teaching and clinical
experience, has set a standard of quality in order to distinguish between the
gentle and heavy needling methods. This part discusses the basic reinforcing
& reducing methods: Slow & Rapid Insertion & Withdrawal Method,
Rotation, Lifting & Thrusting, Retaining, Respiration, Keeping the Hole Opened or
Closed, Nine & Six Manipulations, Shaking,
Circling and Meeting & Following.
*********************
All tapes are in original cases. The original quality (in my opinion) is not "Hollywood" quality (... they look like they're made in China ), but you can clearly see the video and learn a lot. One of the video's has a poor soundtrack that's pretty distorted, but there's so much information packed into this set that that becomes insignificant. Watching these is like going to study in China. I'm an acupuncturist myself and I learned much that I never learned in school and actually saw the things I had only read about in books before. Very worthwhile. All sales are final (to avoid problems of buyers illegally copying and returning)
