The Great Books of theWestern WorldRobert Maynard Hutchins, Editor in Chief© 1952 by Encyclopedia Britannica, Inc.Thirty-first Printing, 1989 This is the complete 54-volume Private Library Edition of the Great Books of the Western World, originally published in the 1950s by Encyclopedia Britannica. The 54 volumes are 8vo. quarter black leatherette and cloth bound, with gilt top edges of pages, gilt decorated spines, and decorative endpapers. A complete list of titles is listed below. Condition: This set is in new condition with little or no shelf-wear. Most of the volumes have never been opened. Four volumes have minor defects that appear to have occurred during the binding process: three with one or more pinhead dimples in the spine, and one has a vertical crease in the leatherette spine (see photo). Bonus: Two extras will be included with the set: Introduction to Great Books: First Series, copyright 1990 by The Great Books Foundation, and The Great Books Seventh Year Course, copyright 1959 by The Great Books Foundation.
